ART / NATURE / PLACE

My work begins with a fascination for place.

I am interested in the traces that landscapes leave behind — the movement of water, the texture of stone, changing light, vegetation and the marks of human presence.

Working across printmaking, drawing and mixed media, I create abstract works that sit somewhere between landscape and memory. I am less interested in reproducing a particular place than in capturing something of its atmosphere — its rhythm, texture and emotional residue.

The landscapes of Ireland, particularly the west coast, have been a constant point of reference. They appear in my work not as literal representations, but as fragments: colours, surfaces, forms and sensations.

Studio Suan is an evolving space for this practice — a place for original works, limited editions, moving images, writing and objects inspired by the natural world.
